Child Protection

Steps to Complete Child Protection

In order to volunteer in your child’s classroom, coach, substitute or attend field trips with your grandchildren, you are required by the Archdiocese of Washington’s Child Protection Policy to complete the following steps:
·         Complete and submit to Little Flower School a Volunteer or Employment Application.
o   A copy of the application can be printed using the link above, or call or email the school office at LFSoffice@littleflowercatholic.org to request a copy of the application.
·         Establish an account at www.virtus.org listing Little Flower School in Great Mills, Maryland, as your primary volunteer/employment location.  Register and attend a “Protecting God’s Children” class via the “Registration” link on the Virtus site.

There is a class forming at Our Lady Star of the Sea on Sept. 13th at 6:00 p.m.

o   Virtus is a company that manages the Child Protection data for the Archdiocese of Washington.
·         Sign and submit page 55 of the Child Protection Handbook received during the class indicating your understanding and acceptance of the policy.
·         Request a fingerprint appointment online at www.adw.org under the “Child Protection” link and appear to be fingerprinted.
o   A completed application must be on file with Little Flower School prior to making a fingerprint appointment.
·         Notify Little Flower School when the above steps have been completed and as questions arise.
The Child Protection Requirements are considered completed when all steps above have been completed and fingerprint clearances have been received.
